Where in the Bay Area ?

Congratulations to Svetlana Smorodinsky for her winning submission. She wrote: The romantic little island getaway in the Spring 2018 BayGeo Journal “Where in the Bay Area?” is the East Brother Light Station. The boat pick up on the mainland is at Point San Pablo Yacht Harbor, 1900 Stenmark Dr, Richmond, CA 94801, promptly at 4pm.

Svetlana is a map geek and especially enjoys vintage cartography. She refuses to give up her paper AAA maps when planning travel. In her day job, Svetlana dabbles in GIS for public health emergency preparedness and response.

Honorable mention goes to Michael Estigoy for sharing some gorgeous arial photos of the East Brother Light Station.

Our next contest location comes courtesy of Michael’s flickr stream. Michael works for SkyIMD and has a treasure trove of beautiful aerial imagery of the Bay Area.

See if you can figure out this location:

It’s so remote that you won’t have cell service or WiFi, and neither Uber nor Lyft will pick you up here.
