Where in the Bay Area ?

Congratulations to Joseph Kinyon for spotting the amphitheater at the Leo J. Ryan Memorial Park in Redwood City, California. Joseph even added some trivia to his winning entry, sharing that Ryan was killed investigating the Jonestown cult. Leo Ryan was a U.S. Congressman from 1973 until his assassination in Guyana in 1978. Ryan was a prolific activist, even going undercover to investigate conditions after the Watts Riots, and posing as an inmate in Folsom Prison.

Joseph received an M.S. in GIS from the University of Redlands and is a GISP. He has been a BAAMA/BayGeo member for over a decade and is the GIS Manager for Sonoma Land Trust. Thanks for entering!

Now for the new contest:

The  small gray circle in the center of this photo next to the aqua blue rectangle shows up elsewhere in this issue as a symbol on one of the graphics in Prentiss Darden's story about wastewater treatment. It's so pretty that Google Maps users have uploaded 163 images of it! Any idea where this is?

Identify the name and location of the feature in this image and send your answer to journal@baygeo.org. One lucky winner will be randomly selected from all correct entries received by March 31, 2017. The winner will receive a fabulous BayGeo t-shirt and be introduced in the Spring 2017 issue.
